None of the major scholars writing on the subject I read took a late dating of 1 Clement to the third decade of the 2nd century as does Zwierlein. On the contrary, the surprising swing among patristic scholars appears to be a preference for an earlier dating of 1 Clement to AD 68-70. Clayton Jefford of the Jesus Seminar argues this view. His arguments vary in strength and some are not persuasive in my opinion. What is weighty in my opinion is when Clement mentions the rituals going on in the temple in the present tense.
